>> Jasmine France: Hi I'm Jasmine France, senior associate editor for CNET.com and I am here today with the Slacker G2 and this is not your average MP3 player. This player is specifically designed to be used at the Slacker Web Service which is a free music service online and what's great about that is you don't have to pay for any music if you got this player. Not only that it has integrated WiFi so once you select your stations on the Slacker Web Player it kind of works like the radio station. You select the phase on genre you can create your own custom stations or listen to artist base stations. You select a certain number of stations to be transferred to the device and then you can update them on the fly any place for you're connected to WiFi and that is definitely one of the attractive features of this player. Now because its design is specifically to work with that service, it doesn't have a hole or a lot of extra features. You're not gonna get photo viewing or video playback or obviously not an FM tuner. You don't really that because you all ready getting the music service but what you do get is really nice full screen album worth, you get artists bios and album bios on the device itself so you can read something wireless in the music if you want to. And you also have the ability to transfer your own music files from your library to the device. So couple of things about this player that are worth bringing on, has a couple of different buttons on here that you wouldn't find on your standard Mp3 player. First of all there is this two buttons at the top the Heart and Ban button and what this allows you to do is kind of tailor the stations to your likings. So, if you are sure of song that you like, you can hit the heart button and it will play it more often and if you hear anything you don't like you hit the ban button and you will never hear it on that station again. And it does have your unusual array of playback controls here in the front there is play pause, track reverse and skip. Of course you could only use track reverse if you're listening to your library and not to the stations. You can only go forward through the stations as part of the easy drills of the music service. On the right spine here you have at hold switch as well as a home button that takes you back to the main menu wherever you are and a wheel that will navigate through menu selections as well as select if you press in. On the top is a volume rocker as well as a standard 3.5 millimeter headphone jack and on the side you have standard menu USB for sinking and there's also another 30-pin dock at the bottom here which will allow it to be used as accessories in the future. Has a really nice big screen on here. So, be great if they decided to add some photo or video support in the future. But for now it does what it's supposed to do and it's all about the music. Now this player is kind of pricy when you compare it to other just standard Mp3 players for 4-gigabyte version you are gonna pay 199 and for the 8 gigabyte you're paying 249. You have to keep in mind that you are getting free music with this. So that's gonna be make it worth for some people now. For the 4 gigabyte version you are gonna get up to 25 stations and then you get some memory set aside for your own personal collection and 8-gigabyte version is gonna let you move up to 40 stations on the device and set aside also some memory for your personal music collection. So if you're looking for something nice it just does all the work for you and you don't have to create any playlists and you want DJs making all music for you this is a great option. I am Jasmine France and this has been the Slacker G2.

Slacker G2 Personal Radio Player (8GB, 40 stations) Review
The good: The Slacker G2 Personal Radio Player works with Slacker's excellent free music service, and it offers built-in Wi-Fi for grabbing new music on-the-go. It features a compact and sturdy design with a large, bright LCD that displays true full-screen album art.
The bad: The Slacker G2 does not offer extra features such as photo and video support, the controls are not completely intuitive, the volume buttons are not very responsive, sound quality is unexceptional, and battery life is unimpressive.
The bottom line: The Slacker G2 is the ultimate lazy person's MP3 player. Paired with the excellent--and free--Slacker music service, it makes new music discovery and enjoyment a nearly effortless process, but control freaks and audiophiles need not apply.
