>> Hello, I'm senior editor David Katzmaeir from CNET.com and I'm with Sharps LC 46D62U. This is a 46 inch LCD flat panel TV, as you can see sharp went ahead and clad that set entirely in glossy black like a lot of LCDs this year. There is a little bit of silver down below where the speakers are and there is a little chrome kind of smile shaped accent among the bottom, so it does differentiate itself a little bit from the TVs this year. There is a glossy black stand that matches perfectly although it doesn't have any swiveling capabilities. The feature set on this television is fairly good for a high-end LCD TV. Around back, you will find two component video inputs and two HDMI inputs. We did miss that there was no PC input but you can use one of the HDMI inputs if you want to use a DVI to HDMI adapter to connect your PC. When we took a sharp into the lab we were oppressed by its ability to produce a nice deep color of black, in fact that's the strongest picture quality suit, it delivers the deepest color and black we've ever seen on a flat-panel TV, so again if you turn off the lights and adjust the picture quality properly you can get a very nice deep color black, which adds to the contrast and also increases the color saturations, what makes for a really nice punchy picture. On the flipside the colors weren't quite as accurate as we expected and we did notice a little bit of the uniformity issue, across the middle of the screen there are some faint bands that become visible on some scenes, so that really was a what we expected in our high end LCD. So all in all, it's not really the best performer that we've seen this year from an LCD although we were impressed again by that very deep black level. And that's a quick look at the Sharp LC 46D62U and I'm David Katzmaeir. ^M00:01:41 [ Music ]

Sharp AQUOS LC-46D62U Review

Editors' rating

The good: Best black-level performance of any non-CRT we've tested yet; resolves every detail of 1080i resolution sources; image stays relatively true from off-angle for an LCD; distinctive two-tone styling.

The bad: Inaccurate color temperature; irregular bands across screen visible in some scenes; lacks picture-in-picture; no PC input.

The bottom line: Although it delivers the deepest color of black we've seen yet, a couple of picture quality problems keep the Sharp LC46D62U from being a top, high-end LCD choice.
