>> Mozilla's project to add in-house syncing to Firefox has been such a success that they have decided to graduate the add-on from Mozilla Labs and plan on baking the feature directly into the upcoming Firefox 4. I am Seth Rosenblatt for CNET Download.com and today I am going to show you how to set up a new Firefox Sync, formerly known as Weave Sync. Once you have installed the add-on and restarted Firefox, you will see a Sync tab added to the options window. Go there and click on set-up Firefox Sync, then "I've never used Sync before." Fill out the form and note that if you are worried about the privacy of your data, you can always host Sync on your own server. Add in your Secret Phrase and then choose which of your settings you want to synchronize. Firefox will automatically sync your data in the background. We are not done yet. On your second computer, install Firefox Sync and choose, "I'm already using Sync on another computer," and enter in your account info. Especially if you have got a lot of data, give the process some time to fully sync up. While most features are accessible from the locations you would expect to find them in, bookmarks are in your bookmarks folder for example, open tabs synced from another computer can be accessed from the history menu on your tabs from other computers. Firefox Sync is far better than when it was in beta, but it is not perfect. There is no way to sync your add-ons for one and some users don't like the bookmark merge. Overall though, Firefox Sync gives you a usable preview of one of the major new features that is coming in Firefox 4. For CNET Download.com, I am Seth Rosenblatt. ^M00:01:44 [ Music ]
