Welcome to CNET Top 5, where each time we meet we count down another hot CNET list. I'm Tom Merritt. The U.S. elections are over. The financial crisis isn't. But we're here to give you a break from both. What's capturing the attention of the tech-minded? Once again we dig into our search logs to take a snapshot of the CNET zeitgeist. Let's count down the Top 5 search terms. At Number Five: the BlackBerry Storm. Also code-named Thunder, this is RIM's first touch-screen BlackBerry, available to Verizon users. Does that mean you will stop loving the LG Dare now? Coming in at Number Four: Headphones. Hard times refocus us on simple needs. The basics. You need a good way to hear your music. They can keep your ears warm during a cold winter too. Up to Number Three: Antivirus. More important than simple needs, are security needs. Malware isn't going anywhere, and you know it. Have you had your flu shot? Sliding in at Number Two: iPhone. Really? The list seemed so practical, or at least explicable, up till now. What is it about the iPhone you haven't already been inundated with that you hope to find in a search? Well, point is you're still into it. But what could be your most-searched-for search term? Before we get to Number One, let's look at the back half of the top search terms. That's more like it. Practical, salt-of- the-earth search terms. All right. Let's get to our Number One. The most popular search term used on the CNET search engine. At Number One, it's...iPod. Now I'm stunned. iPhone at least has hype, but you're still searching for iPod info in droves! I suppose your basic needs include music, and the iPod still is the most popular music player. So...good on you Apple. You still have the public's attention.
