Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable (1.5TB) Video Transcript
If you're looking for a portable external hard drive that is fast, simple, flexible, and most importantly offers a large amount of storage, you're watching the right video. Hey, there, my name is Dong Ngo and this is the FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra Portable from Seagate. This is the second product of the Seagate GoFlex family that earns our Editors' Choice award. Now, like all drives in the GoFlex family, the GoFlex Ultra Portable comes in two separate parts. The first part is the drive itself which is very much like an Intel 2.5-inch hard drive with a chassis. On the side here, the housing has a small opening to reveal the hard drive's SATA port. The second part is the adaptor which determines the type of connection and the feature that the hard drive will use. These two parts can be snapped in tight and, while connected, they form the GoFlex external hard drive. The GoFlex Ultra Portable is the first portable drive in the GoFlex family that comes included with a USB 3.0 adaptor. It will also work with all other adaptors such as they offer FireWire or eSATA connections. Apart from that, the drive also is the first in the world of portable single volume drives that offer 1.5 terabytes of storage, making it perfect for storing movies and other high-def content. To prove this, Seagate actually teamed up with Paramount Picture to bundle with 20 movies including public titles such as Star Trek, Ghost, Shooter, GI Joe, and so on. Apart from Star Trek that is free when you register the drive, the rest of the movie will cost around $10 to $15 to unlock before you can view them. The best thing about the Ultra Portable is the fact that its adaptor can also support any 2.5-inch internal hard drive, such as this one here. This means if you want to quickly connect an internal laptop hard drive to a computer, you won't need to buy a separate docking station. At the price of around $250, we find the GoFlex Ultra Portable an excellent addition to your laptop or even desktop computer. For more information on how it performs, check out the in-depth review at CNET.com. Once again, my name is Dong Ngo and this has been the first look at the FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra Portable external hard drive from Seagate.

Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable (1.5TB, USB 3.0, 22mm) Review
The good: The Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Ultra-portable offers great flexibility, USB 3.0, and a large amount of storage. It also works with both Macs and PCs without having to be reformatted.
The bad: The GoFlex Ultra's USB 3.0 performance could be better and the drive doesn't include a USB 3.0 add-in card for computers that don't yet have this connection.
The bottom line: Even with the slightly low USB 3.0 performance, the GoFlex Ultra still makes an excellent portable external hard drive for people who need to expand their computer's storage.
