>> Hi, I'm Jasmine France, associate editor for CNET.com and I am here today with the Scan Disk stanza shaker and as you can see it looks like a salt shaker with its built in speaker on the top here. I'm going to talk about design a little bit first and then we will talk about why it's actually called the shaker. Now this is a really simple MP3 player, no screen, there's actually no built in memory, you do get a 512 megabytes card with it and it's only about 40 bucks for the whole thing. Appear at the top you have the volume controls, around the side you have dual headphone jacks, simple play, pause and power key and then track shuttle, as you twist around the bottom and if you twist off the bottom of the player you will see the SD card slot with SD card in it, mini USB port and there is a little compartment here for a AAA battery. As you might guess this player is aimed at the younger set and there is a reason for that, it has all these interactive things for your child to interact with music, music is playing them back, you shake it, you get a sound and it will shuffle the music and go to the next one and if the music is paused they can shake it again and it makes another sound effect. And when you turn it off, it makes yet another sound effect, it comes in pink as well as blue and they intend to add more colors as time goes on. Very you know, fun and simple player for kids, I'm sure it's not going to sound that great, it's not really made for that and it's not really priced for that, but if you're looking to get you know you're 6, 7, 8-year-olds involved in digital music, this is probably a good way to go. I'm Jasmine France and this has been the Scan Disk stanza shaker. ^M00:01:37 [ Music ]

SanDisk Sansa Shaker (512MB, blue) Review
The good: The SanDisk Sansa Shaker features a simple, kid-friendly design and will be available in a variety of colors. The player is half-toy and shuffles up music when shaken. Fun sound effects when the player is paused or turned on and off add to its appeal. It's inexpensive and includes an external speaker and two headphone jacks for sharing.
The bad: The flap covering the ports on the bottom of the Shaker may not be durable over time, and the lack of rechargeable battery may not appeal to everyone. The player only supports MP3s.
The bottom line: If you want to get your children started on digital music at a young age, the Sansa Shaker provides a great way to do so: it's inexpensive, simple, and acts like a toy.
