>> Hi, I'm Jasmine France, associate editor for CNET.com and I'm here today with the SanDisk Sansa C200 series. And this is actually an update to their budget line player the C100. And it looks almost exactly like it except that the control pad right here is square instead of circular. It's not the smallest player I've seen but it is certainly pocketable. And I like the way the controls are all laid out. This player has a decent array of features for the price. I mean this is a really cheap player. What the draw is, is it offers an exceptional value for the money. It's ninety nine dollars only for the two gigabyte version. That's pretty much the cheapest we've seen ever. And it's seventy nine dollars for the one gigabyte which is the same as the iPod Shuffle but this offers a lot more features and a screen. But about the screen, it's actually not a very good screen. I found in initial use it's kind of washed out and a little bit drab. You know, you don't get album art support which is kind of a bummer. It does show photos, again the photos don't look great, it does work. Basically what you're going to want it for is music playback. This doesn't do video or anything like that. It has an FM tuner built in with presets and auto scanning. And there's even a mic on one side for doing voice recordings. So basically I think if you're a first timer looking for a budget player, this could be the player for you. If you're a more sophisticated user you need something that looks really sleek and nice with a nice screen and excellent sound quality, it's probably not what you want. I'm Jasmine France and this has been the SanDisk Sansa C200 series. ^M00:01:23 [ Music ]

SanDisk Sansa c240 (1GB, black) Review
The good: The SanDisk Sansa c200 series player is an exceptional value, considering its assortment of features. It comes with a FM radio, a voice recorder, photo viewer, a built-in MicroSD slot for adding memory, and even a user-replaceable, rechargeable battery. Navigating menus is a breeze.
The bad: The menu interface is boring and screen quality subpar. Sound quality is far from impressive; there's no video support. The player uses a proprietary USB port. And, there's no 4GB version.
The bottom line: Thanks to its exceptional value and user-friendly features, the SanDisk Sansa c200 is an acceptable choice for youngsters and first-timers--but more sophisticated users would be better off shelling out a bit more for a better player.
