>> Hi, I'm Josh Goldman, Senior Editor for CNET Reviews and this is the Samsung TL34HD. It's a 14.7-megapixel ultra-compact camera with 3.5 times optical zoom and on back is a 3-inch touchscreen display. Unlike other touchscreen models we've tested Samsung squeezed more physical controls on to the TL34HD's slight chassis leaving touch control mainly for shooting and playback which we prefer. The touch interface is one of the best we've used, too, allowing you to quickly change all of your shooting settings without digging in the menus. However the interface falls apart in the camera's menu system which is slow and frustrating and it frequently mis-selects options and there's no way to calibrate the display to fix it. On the app side you won't have to go very often into these menus, but what's more disappointing than a menu system is the photo quality which doesn't leave up to the cameras overall excellent design and very good feature set. Photos turning on look soft and a bit over-processed and noise starts to obscure details at around ISO 400, though it's typical we noticed in above average amount of fringing in outdoor shots. Also disappointing is the 720p HD video quality produced by the camera. It's so loaded with noise that you likely won't notice the detailed images behind the noise. It's better than the VGA video from most compact cameras, but you shouldn't make or break a purchase decision on it. I'm Josh Goldman and that's the Samsung TL34HD. ^M00:01:48 [ Music ]

Nikon Coolpix S60 (red) Review
The good: Optical image stabilization; 3.5-inch touch-screen LCD; pretty; fun features.
The bad: Comparatively slow interface; relatively slow for its class; soft images; all but the power and shutter are touch-screen controlled.
The bottom line: Fun features and chic styling make the Nikon Coolpix S60 a tasty choice for casual point-and-shoot use. However, if you need speed or snapshot perfection, this isn't your camera.
