Samsung T259 (T-Mobile) Video Transcript

Hi this is Jessica Dolcourt for CNET. I'm taking a look at the Samsung T259 for T-Mobile. This is your basic flip phone. It doesn't do much but what it does, it does very well. For example, it's got really excellent call quality, a nice loud speakerphone that doesn't sound too hollow, and calls are very crystal clear. There's also a large comfortable dial pad here. It's very intuitive to use, there's large type on the screen by default so it's a very easy phone to get around. One thing that makes this phone really easy to use are the useful shortcut keys. There's one for every direction of the directional pad, plus there are 2 programmable shortcut keys on either side of the navigation toggle. There's a 2-megapixel camera here on the front. It's also a camcorder and there's 32 gigabytes of external memory. Inside, you've got all of your basics like text, e-mail, and a very basic music player. I've got that hooked up to the shortcut key here. Not everything on this phone is flawless, however. For example, I personally don't like these hard edges here on the phone face especially when everything else is really rounded. It just feels kind of out of place. And also, if you wanna listen to music, there's this micro USB jack that you have to use as a shared headset jack so you're gonna need an adaptor for that. That's pretty much negative when you've got a music player on board. This phone is only $30 with an instant rebate and a 2-year service agreement so that's a really great bargain. It basically adds up to a great phone for people who are mostly just interested in making calls and sending texts. I'm Jessica Dolcourt and this is the Samsung T259 for T-Mobile.

Samsung SGH-T259 - blue (T-Mobile) Review

The good: The Samsung T259 has strong call and speakerphone quality, e-mail access, and room for 32GB expandable memory.

The bad: We're not fans of the Samsung T259's squared-off edges, or the shared headphone and charger jack.

The bottom line: The Samsung T259's intuitive design, excellent call quality, and affordable price make it a good choice for someone in search of a simple handset.
