Hey, guys, this is Eric Franklin from CNET.com and today we're taking a first look at the Samsung SyncMaster B2330HD. The B23 has an oval-shaped foot stand and when knocked from the side, the display wobbles quite a bit, but we never felt it was in danger of toppling except when we knocked it from the back. The back of the display has a wide deep groove across the top that acts as a ventilation area but also doubles as convenient carrying space. The connection options face outward making them easy to access. The B23 also includes a Samsung TV-like remote and it's the preferred way of navigating the OSD. Picture options include typical controls like brightness, contrast, and sharpness, and some custom presets. Also, there's a color temperature option and an option to adjust the red, blue, and green values individually. In movies, the B23 displayed dark detail just as well as the PX2370. What stood out most was the apparent green push noticeable in character faces, making them appear sickly compared to the healthy looking faces on the PX2370. However, we were able to make some color adjustment in the settings that improved things greatly. We found games to deliver vibrant imagery with no hint of the green color tint problem, at least after calibration. In power consumption, the B23 would cost a whopping $16.13 per year to run compared to the Samsung PX2370's much lower $7.65 per year. The B23 is a $260 23-inch monitor with more connection options than most monitors over $300. If connection options are important to you, that fact alone is a big deal. Unfortunately, there's no DVI port so you'll need to invest in an additional cord if you want to make a digital connection. If you're looking for an HDTV/monitor combo, we recommend the more expensive Samsung FX2490HD thanks to its better performance. However, if price is a concern, the B23 is a great second choice. Once again, this is Eric Franklin and this had been the first look at the Samsung SyncMaster B2300HD.
The Samsung SyncMaster XL2370 looks great, performs well, and hits at just the right price point.
It skimps on a few features, but the Samsung SyncMaster P2370 is a stylish, low-priced 23-incher with very good performance.
The Samsung SyncMaster 940BF delivers a clear, vivid picture for games and DVDs, but overall we found it average; other monitors offer more adjustability and features and better performance for less.
We found nothing inherently wrong with the Samsung SyncMaster 204T, a 20-inch LCD with an attractive design, decent image quality, and useful software, but other monitors offer more features for the price.
The Samsung SyncMaster S23A550H LED monitor performs well and the price is good, but it simply pales in comparison with its predecessor.
The Samsung SyncMaster F2380 is a well-designed monitor with good performance that skimps on connection options.
The 19-inch Samsung SyncMaster 953BW has good performance and a low price, but its competitors one-up it on both counts.
The Samsung SyncMaster P2770FH's disappointing performance and lack of features make it a distant choice among 27-inchers.
With tons of connection options, great performance, and useful features like an HDTV tuner, the Samsung SyncMaster T240HD display is an excellent bargain.
The Samsung SyncMaster 204B can handle productivity and entertainment tasks, but there are less expensive alternatives that offer comparable image quality and superior features.
Samsung SyncMaster B2330HD Review
The good: The Samsung SyncMaster B2330HD has an impressive number of connection options, built-in speakers, and a remote control, with (once calibrated) good movie and game performance.
The bad: The Samsung SyncMaster B2330HD requires heavy color calibrating to get the picture quality to an acceptable level, and its color performance in DisplayMate produces some egregious results; its lack of DVI connection means you'll need to purchase an adapter or a new cord to get it working with a modern PC.
The bottom line: The Samsung SyncMaster B2330HD takes some calibrating before it performs well, but is low priced and offers lots of features.
