>> Hi, this is Eric Franklin from CNET.com and today we're looking at the Samsung SyncMaster 953BW. This is a 19-inch display that has a severe lack of ergonomic options. It tilts back about 20-degrees and tilts forward about 5-degrees, but there's no screen head adjustment, there's no rotation, there's no pivoting. The connection options include DVI and VGA and there is support for HDCP so you can watch high-def content. Speaking of high-def content, we tested the SyncMaster with a couple of high-def trailers and what we saw was very vibrant colors, but we saw -- also saw a very high black level. The black level was a lot higher than the Gateway HD1900 for example. The foot stand is fairly wide, but it doesn't really keep the monitor from wobbling. The monitor wobbles quite a bit when you knock it from the sides. And the bottom of the bezel here is this thin translucent plastic glass strip that includes the labels for all the OSD buttons because the buttons aren't actually on the plastic glass, it's actually on the bottom of the panel behind the plastic glass. Navigating the OSD is fairly easy as a fairly generic OSD menu system. You don't get too confused when trying to navigate. The display can be found online for as low as 150 bucks and if the lack of ergonomic options is okay with you, this is actually a great deal for a 19-inch monitor. The Samsung SyncMaster 940BF delivers a clear, vivid picture for games and DVDs, but overall we found it average; other monitors offer more adjustability and features and better performance for less.
