Samsung Stratosphere (Verizon) Video Transcript

Hey everyone, I'm Jessica Dolcourt for CNET.com here at CTIA in San Diego. What I've got in my hands is the Samsung Stratosphere. This is a new phone for Verizon and a big deal with this phone is that it's much more enterprise-friendly, so it's got VPN, it's got on-phone encryption, and it's got support from Microsoft ActiveSync that will be your corporate e-mail or your calendars, things like that. Specs wise, it's got a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen that's bright and clear and really pretty to use. It's also running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. One of its other claims to fame is that it is the first 4G LTE for Verizon that comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. So, it's got a 5-megapixel camera and camcorder on the back, a 1.3-megapixel camera on the front. It runs off of a 1 gigahertz single-core processor. It costs $149.99 with a new 2-year service agreement and that will be available on October 13. So, I'm Jessica Dolcourt this is the Samsung Stratosphere for Verizon and you're watching CNET.com.

Samsung Stratosphere (Verizon Wireless) Review

The good: The Samsung Stratosphere has Verizon's ultrafast 4G LTE speeds and is the first LTE phone in its arsenal to have a QWERTY keyboard. Plus, it has Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, and VPN support. Its 5-megapixel camera takes good photos.

The bad: A sibling of the original Galaxy S line, the Stratosphere at times feels a little rehashed. Call quality was also hit or miss.

The bottom line: The Samsung Stratosphere's blazing 4G LTE speeds, QWERTY keyboard, and business tools lend it credence as a handset for corporate minds, but its last-season specs may fail to lure those looking for the ultimate smartphone.
