>> Hi, I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today, we're going to take our first look at the Samsung HGHX 507. This is a new phone for AT & T Cingular. What we have here is a very basic phone, no camera, not a lot of high-end features, really just designed for making calls and sending messages. As you can see, there's a very simple design, just your basic flip phone shape, external antenna. We have an external display, its monochrome. It still shows all the information you need, though, basic silver color and a very dark blue, almost black strip down the front. Very compact as well, feels really light in the hand. Not a lot to tell you about on the sides, just have a volume rocker here, we have a headset jack, charger jack here on the bottom. Inside, kind of a small interior display, but the phone is small, so that's fine. Not very high resolution as far as color and vibrancy goes, but that's to be expected on a phone like this. Navigation buttons are standard Samsung. We have a [inaudible] squares toggle with a button in the center that actually opens the web browser, usually prefer those okay buttons right in the center. It actually opens the main menu. Here on the side, we have a couple soft keys, talk and end power key, clear button. And then moving down to the keypad buttons, they're slightly raised above the surface of the phone. This isn't a real thin phone, so usually, on the non-thin phones, we see a little more slightly raised buttons. Buttons are kind of small, but otherwise, not too many problems with them. Overall though, there again, this is a very basic phone, really, just designed for making calls. I'm Kent German and this is Samsung HGHX 507. ^M00:01:24 [ Music ]

Samsung SGH-X507 Review
The good: The Samsung SGH-X507 is easy to use and offers a decent feature set for a basic phone.
The bad: The Samsung SGH-X507 had poor call quality, and the design feels the tiniest bit cheap.
The bottom line: The Samsung SGH-X507 tries to be a good basic phone, but it can't quite pass the quality test.
