>> Hi, I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we take a first look at the Samsung SGHT 819. It's a new phone from T-Mobile service. Not a lot going on here at least not a lot new. It comes as a very thin Samsung design. Quite a lot and similar to a lot of Samsung phones we have seen particularly from T-Mobile. Although it isn't silver though, it isn't black it is what's called a coffee brown color. It's a slider phone you can slide it up just like that. Pretty good mechanism kind of sturdy, really have a nice thumb grip right here so you can just kind of slide it up and down. Display is very typical Samsung. It's pretty colorful and bright. Not really great to see in direct light. The navigation keys instead of that standard Samsung square trapezoid we usually see, we have a circle, kind of small, I found the keys just a little bit scrunched down together. There's a toggle. It's raised just above the surface of the phone. "Okay" button in the middle. Soft keys on the top and on the bottom, so on either side. And the bottom you have the "End" power key and the "Talk" button. And in the middle we have a couple short cuts, but with the square on it, it's actually a short cut key that you can program. And then here on the side we have a web browser for T-Mobile's T Zone service. Also the key pad buttons were [inaudible] flap surface of the phone. Nothing really to differentiate between them. Had trouble dialing by feel. Here in the back we do have the camera and the self-portrait mirror. A lot of times they put the camera here on the top of the slider so that means you have to have it up, kind of like it that you can use it when it's closed. Just makes it a little more user friendly. Wish we have flash though especially on a 1.3 mega pixel camera. Here on this side we have the volume rocker and we have we have the charger port and the headset jack which is also you plug the USB cable in here. We really wish that we had separate ports so you could have it headset in or USB in at the same time. Right now you only have one. Inside you have a music player, stereo, Bluetooth, speakerphone. Nothing really that's revolutionary so, really hoping one these days especially for T-Mobile Samsung pulls something really unique and new out of its hat because we're just seeing kind of a lot of the same. I'm Kent German. And this is the Samsung SGHT 819. ^M00:01:45 [Music]

Samsung SGH-T819 (T-Mobile) Review
The good: The Samsung SGH-T819 is an easy-to-use cell phone with a decent midrange feature set.
The bad: The Samsung SGH-T819 call quality wasn't the best, and its navigation array was somewhat cramped. Also, photo quality was average.
The bottom line: The Samsung SGH-T819 is a serviceable cell phone, but there are better options in T-Mobile's lineup.
