>> Hi. I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET.com. Today we're gonna take a first look at the Samsung SGH-G800. This is Samsung's answer to the Nokia A95, and it is a five-megapixel camera phone. It's not available with a US carrier, but you can get it in North America. You just have to buy it alone, so that means it will run a few hundred dollars, so just be wary of that. So pretty boxy design, as you can see. Very silver, so kind of standard Samsung styling, not really anything that fantastic, from the front at least. Have a pretty bright display here. It's colorful. It's vibrant, shows everything you need. Navigation keypad is also pretty sizable, like a navigation toggle. It is flush with the surface of the phone, but you know, it's not too bad. You can get your finger in there and move things around pretty fair. The "OK" button in the middle's also just a tiniest bit slick. The soft keys on the side, they're pretty thin, but they're easy to grab on to and in press, so not a big deal there. Just slide it up -- you can see it; it's a slider design. The phone has a pretty sturdy feel overall, but that slider was just the tiniest bit loose. It could just be the phone we were using, but... So you definitely want to check that out if you have a real active lifestyle. Keypad is flat with the surface of the phone. It's very slick and not a lot of differentiation, so dialing by feel is a little difficult. But it is backlit. Oh, the navigation keys aren't backlit, but you could probably see what you're doing by the lighting of the screen. Like a lot of camera phones of this caliber that are high resolution like this, it does look like a camera when viewed from behind. See, you turn it like that; see it has a dedicated lens cover. It has a pretty bright flash, actually, even has red-eye reduction. Not a self-portrait mirror, but regular cameras really don't have that, so I guess they're just going that way. Display does act as the viewfinder. And then also, when you're using the camera, you can see it has a lot of camera ergonomics here on the top. This is the volume button normally, but it's actually the zoom. And then this is the camera shutter so you can hold it like that. And so, actually really looks like a camera. Overall, a lot of other functions, has a media player, has here a Bluetooth, and kind of all the higher-end stuff you'd expect, but really the emphasis is on that 5-megapixel camera. Has an image editor and all sorts of camera functions that you'd expect on a stand-alone camera. I'm Kent German. This is the Samsung SGH-G800. ^M00:01:58 [ Music ]
