>> Ken Sherman: Hi, I'm Ken Sherman, Senior Editor here at cnet.com. Today, let's take our first look at the Samsung SGH-A177. This is a phone for AT&T's Go Phone service, which is AT&T's prepaid service. Texting phones and messaging phones have been very popular lately, and this phone, of course, is one of those. Overall, a very basic design, really defines what a candy-bar phone is, very rectangular. But I liked it. It just serves its purpose; it doesn't pretend to be anything more than it's not. Let's start with the display. Not the highest resolution we've seen, but very acceptable for a phone of this caliber. Menus are easy to use. Navigation controls, very spacious, could really get in there and navigate the menus with no issues. Messaging shortcut here, which is nice on the messaging phone, and will take you directly to the messaging folder. Keypad buttons. Really like them actually. People with larger hands might have a little trouble getting used to it, but I got the hang of it after a littlel bit. The only thing I found just a little bit small was that spacebar, but overall, I did like the shortcut buttons, simple camera, personal organizer feature, speakerphone. So really not a whole lot in the way of features, really for text messaging, multimedia messaging and instant messaging. But as I said, I think it's great that it comes with AT&T's Go Phone service. I'm Ken Sherman, and this is the Samsung SGH-A177. ^M00:01:17 [ Music ]
