>> Hi I'm Kent German, Senior Editor here at CNET.com. Today we're going to take a First Look at the Samsung SCH-U410; it's a new phone from Verizon Wireless service. Samsung's made a lot of phones these days pumping them out really quickly. I can say that this phone looks a lot different from other Samsung phones we've seen. It looks a lot like the Samsung SCH-U340 which is also for Verizon. So it just has a really sort of plain shape, it has a simple flip-phone design that has pretty average dimensions, not too big but not really too small either. Inside, pretty average display, it's easy 5,000 colors so it's not the greatest resolution, nice navigation controls actually; I like the circular toggle , OK button in the center, you can set that as a shortcut to various functions as well, a couple of soft keys, talk and end clear and the clear. Keypad buttons are raised just above the surface of the phone, just ever so slightly so down by feel wasn't a problem. I liked the keys which are pretty big, the numbers are pretty big and there's a bright backlighting as well. So pretty user-friendly phone definitely but like I said it's not very attractive. Inside there are some good features, a speaker phone, it does have Bluetooth but that is really about it but it is nice to see the Bluetooth especially on such kind of a basic phone. Call quality was okay it wasn't the best Verizon I've heard, I felt that the sound could have been a little sharper also the speakerphone was pretty unusable unless you were close to the phone. Overall though good phone for occasional callers but if you're going to be using the phone a lot it probably isn't the best one for you. I'm Kent German and this is the Samsung SCH-U410. ^M00:01:22 [ Music ] ^M00:01:25
If you want a functional, user-friendly cell phone for making calls, the Samsung Knack SCH-U310 for Verizon Wireless is a great choice.
The Samsung SCH-U340 is a cell phone with a simple, easy-to-use design and decent call quality.
Though it could offer better call quality, the Samsung FlipShot SCH-U900 is one of the best camera phones we've seen in a while.
The Samsung Intensity is a simple entry-level messaging phone with a few multimedia goodies that's very affordable and easy to use.
While the Samsung Glint doesn't sport a flashy design or the latest and greatest features, it offers Alltel customers a solid, basic cell phone with good call quality; best of all, it's free.
On its own, the Samsung Reality is a great midrange multimedia phone, but it doesn't hold a candle to the Rogue, which has a better design and better features.
Despite a couple of design complaints and a missing feature, the Samsung Convoy is an easy-to-use phone with great performance.
Along with the traditional perks of a cell phone, the Samsung SCH-u520 is the first phone to feature Alltel's new Celltop service.
At CES 2007, we take a look at this new Samsung phone that plays MP3s and has a camcorder, a camera, and Bluetooth.
The Samsung SCH-U430 isn't terribly exciting but it's a decent phone for making calls.
Samsung SCH-U410 (Verizon Wireless) Review
The good: The Samsung SCH-U410 has a simple design and offers Bluetooth and voice commands.
The bad: The Samsung SCH-U410 has a poor camera, and its call quality wasn't reliable.
The bottom line: The Samsung SCH-U410 is a simple and easy-to-use phone. We just wish it offered better performance.
