>> Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor here at CNET dot com. Today I'll take a first look at the Samsung SPH 500 stereo bluetooth headset. Samsung's made a couple a of stereo bluetooth headsets and had a mixture of use, some of them, some of them good, some of them not so good. Unfortunately, this is one that's not so good. The sound quality is fine, I did like the buttons and to think of it they're well laid out but I really found it so uncomfortable I just couldn't wear it for very long. It doesn't play behind the neck design so the band is kind of here. It is made of sort of a plastic material but it is pretty flexible so you can bend it back and forth. I don't think its gonna break or anything like that. There is some padding that goes around on the earpiece; not too bad, nice and soft, so it is soft to the touch which is nice. The controls are actually well laid out. Here on the right side in the center is the multi function button. It is recessed just a little bit so it's very easy to find when it's on your ear. It's a stereo bluetooth headset of course, so it does let you use it for music. Here on this side there's not a whole lot, this is on the left side. There is a on off switch. It is a little bit recessed, it is a little hard to find when it's on your ear but you're typically not gonna be turning it on and off that much when you're actually wearing the headset. But as I said unfortunately, this headset is very uncomfortable. It does slide on easy enough like this but once it's on it's really hard to get it sort of correct, and even once you find it almost there you can see that the neck band rests against the side of your neck. So it doesn't really itch you or anything but just so you know it's there. And unfortunately there are some bridges, these actually rest on top of your ear and pinch into the side so, I know I have kind of big ears so maybe I'm a little bit of a bad case. But still I found it really uncomfortable, didn't want to wear it very long, and then also found when you're wearing it just isn't the most stylish, you kind of look like you got earmuffs or you maybe look like Princess Leia, I don't know. Well it does have good sound quality and I do like the controls. I wish more stereo bluetooth headsets had controls like this. I just can't recommend it because of that uncomfortable fit. I'm Kent German and this is the Samsung SPH 500 stereo bluetooth headset. [ music ]
