>> Hi, I'm Will Greenwald associate editor of CNET.com and this is the Samsung S10 50 digital camera. This is the scaled up version of Samsungs S8 50 digital camera. Compared to the S8 50 this camera has a ten mega pixel sensor and features face detecting auto focus and auto exposure. It's a very nice feature to have if you are taking portraits of people or if you just want to shoot family photos and simply want to get the focus on the people rather than simply the center of the shot or the close up subject you have. Like the S8 50 it has the same full manual exposure controls that we really like and it has the same 5X optical zoom lens. It gives you a little bit more of a boost when zooming in, but also narrows your shot a little bit when you're at full wide angle. Now, the big problem with this over the S8 50 is that it's simply much more expensive for not a whole lot more of a bonus. It's a good camera on its own, but if all you want is just manual exposure controls and descent pictures you can save a good amount of money by sticking with the Samsung S8 50 not the S10 50. I'm Will Greenwald and this is the Samsung S10 50. [ Music ]

Samsung S1050 (black) Review

The good: Manual exposure controls; face-detection features are useful.

The bad: Slow to shoot; photos are filled with noise at all but the lowest sensitivity settings; face detection is unreliable in low light.

The bottom line: The 10-megapixel Samsung S1050 has lots of neat features, but its photos come up lacking.
