>> I'm Nicole Lee, Associate Editor for CNET.com and this is the Samsung Rant from Sprint. So, as you can see here it looks like a very typical candy bar shaped phone but if you turn it sideways and you slide the phone up you will reveal a full cordia keyboard, and this is one of the biggest crazes right now in Sprint's phone line, a lot of texting phones coming out; this is one of the first phones with the full cordia keyboard right here. On the front here you do get a very nice display underneath that is the typical navigation array as well as the number keyboard, very nice and raised above the surface, very easy to use. On the back is the camera lens right here as well as a self-portrait mirror. The microSD card slot is located behind the battery cover on the left side, it's a little bit annoying but at least you don't have to remove the battery to get to the microSD card. The Samsung Rant is also one of the first phones from Sprint to have something called the One Click Shortcut Bar, it has 8 different shortcuts right along the bottom of the screen here and one of 14 different applications can be placed here along the bottom row, so as you can see here I have Internet, I have Google Search on here, Sprint Navigation shortcut, more shortcuts, so it's very easy to access your favorite applications right from the Home screen of the Samsung Rant. Features of the Samsung Rant are plentiful, you do get access to Sprint's EVDO services, so you get Sprint Power Vision on here, you can watch live-streaming television on here, you can download music, you also get GPS, stereo Bluetooth, all the features you want in a very high-end phone, and a very small and slim form factor right here. The Samsung Rant is available right now for around $45.00 or so from Sprint with a 2 year service agreement. My name is Nicole Lee; this has been the Samsung Rant from Sprint. ^M00:01:54 [ Music ]

Samsung Rant - red (Sprint) Review

Editors' rating

The good: The Samsung Rant has a full QWERTY keyboard, a megapixel camera, EV-DO, stereo Bluetooth, music player, GPS, and access to Sprint's 3G services. It also has the easy-to-use One Click interface from Sprint.

The bad: The Samsung Rant suffers from awkward navigation keys, and we would've liked some dedicated music-player controls.

The bottom line: Despite a few niggling design issues, the Samsung Rant is an excellent messaging phone for Sprint messaging fans.
