>> Hi I'm Kent German, senior editor at CNET dot com. Today we'll take a first look at the Samsung Muse. This is also called the SCH-U706 and it is available for Alltel. There are a lot of music phones out there and this is one of Alltel's answers to that trend. It is a very standard Samsung design, it's very thin, flip phone, the camera lens right up here, you have your basic external display; couple of speakers down here at the bottom and 2 dedicated music keys, they're a little hard to see right now but they are touch sensitive, you can press them and then you can show the music player, access it. This is kind of a blue silver colored, couldn't really decided but I do think it's attractive. It's pretty shiny, reflective, catches a lot of fingerprints so I was using the phone earlier and looked like a crime scene; my fingerprints were all over the thing. Open up the phone, inside you have a pretty standard Samsung design as well. There's a pretty bright internal display; pretty big for it's size actually. Keypad buttons, they are flat to the surface of the phone, that is typical to expect on this thin flip phones. They don't want to make the phone any bigger by having really textured keys. It's not a lot of clear separation between the keys as well. Toggle is a little better, there is kind of a very, very thin ring surrounding it. Couple of soft keys here, there's a dedicated music player button that will launch that music player. Inside you'd find about what you'd expect from a mid range music phone; there's a music player of course, there is the camera, basic organizer features, texting, messaging, things like that. Because the phone is a music player, it also has a memory card slot; unfortunately it's not in the best location, you do have to remove the back and slide it in right there. We'll have to knock it just a little bit for that. You should know that the music player is dependent on a memory card, so you gotta have one in there if you want to use the music player. Although this phone doesn't offer us anything new in the design department, like I said it's very standard Samsung, looks a lot like other Samsung phones we've seen before it. It nevertheless is a decent phone with mid range features and always good to see more music phones on Alltel's table. I'm Kent German and this is the Samsung Muse. [ music ]
