>> [Ken Sherman:] Hi, I'm Ken Sherman, senior editor for CNET.com here at CTIA Fall 2009 in San Diego. I'm here with the Samsung Moment. This is Samsung's first Android phone for Sprint. Pretty cool. Actually has a lot of specs in it. Has a pretty nice design. Big 3.2-inch touchscreen. AMOLED display. On the outside we'll see we have a few touch controls below the display. There's a "back," there's a "home," there's a "menu" button. Those are touch controls. And down below those you see the "talk" and "end" buttons. Also have a navigation control right here. This also works as an optical mouse. So what that means is, as you run your finger over the control, you can actually manipulate the display. Also on the outside on the top we have a 3.5-millimeter headset jack. Of course the phone does have a virtual keyboard, but it also has a physical keyboard. You just turn it on its side, slide that up, and you'll see that we have the nice keyboard down below. The phone does have an accelerometer, so as you tip the phone, you will see that the display will change automatically. You'll see a 3.2-millimeter camera. You'll see all of the Android features you might expect since there's access to the Android app store. The price is 179 with service. That's a very good price. It is comparable to what Sprint is charging for the HTC Hero. And it will be out November first. I'm Ken Sherman at CTIA fall 2009 with the Samsung Moment. ^M00:01:12 [ MUSIC ]

Samsung Moment (Sprint) Review

The good: The Samsung Moment has a bright display with a spacious keyboard. Productivity features are plentiful and call quality is clear.

The bad: The Samsung Moment's touch interface and controls were a little sluggish. The camera lacks editing features, call volume could be louder, and speakerphone quality was just average.

The bottom line: With its full keyboard and bright display, the Samsung Moment successfully rounds out Sprint's Android offerings.
