>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier, a senior editor for cnet.com, and I'm with Samsung's LN T4681F. This is a 46-inch flat panel LCD TV. It's one of the first of its kind to have an LED back light which does improve a lot of aspects of the picture quality. We'll get to that in a second. The set's styling is really slick. Around the edge of the screen is glossy-black. It's actually really wide-looking TV. That's helped out by these kind of strips along the side here. They're actually clear and you can see right through them. They do reflect sound from the speakers out into the room and on the outside of those strips is another little dark gray accent mark. So all in all, it's a very distinctive looking TV. And of course like a lot of Samsungs it has this nice swivel stand and a nice matching glossy-black finish on the stand as well. When you [Inaudible] onto the features section this TV is extremely well appointed. Around back you'll find two HGMI inputs, to component video inputs, one PC input, the side panel has a third HGMI input, so there's plenty of connectivity. You go into the features menu you'll find a lot of different ways to adjust the picture quality. You've got the gray scale is fully adjustable. You can go ahead and change the white balance, you can also play with gamma and turn on and off the LED function. Speaking of these L E Ds they actually do contribute to some of the best black-level performance we've ever seen on an LCD TV -- or any TV in general. When you take this TV into a dark room and watch a relatively dark scene those LEDs can actually turn off so again in dark scenes it actually appears black. Again, when you have a lot of other stuff on the screen the black colors are still very, very good. Not quite on the same level as the Pioneer plasma that we tested earlier, but still extremely good. Color accuracy, another strong point of this Samsung TV. Some of the most accurate color we've seen. On the down side, it's not really that great when you sit to either side of the sweet spot or view the TV from anywhere but straight on. It actually does lose a lot of black-level performance a lot more than a lot of LCDs we've tested. The screen itself also reflects quite a bit of ambient light, so when there's a lot of light in the room it's really not the best for [Inaudible] that sort of reflection. Aside from that, though, the Samsung LN T4681F is an excellent television, and I'm David Katzmaier. ^M00:02:08 [ Music ]
