>> What's up prizefight fans? I'm Brian Tong and we're facing off two big name touch screen phones to see who's bringing home the bacon. In this weeks prizefight, it's a beat 'em up battle between Sprints Samsung Instinct and a Verizon's LG Dare. We've got 5 rounds for ya -- in round 1 which phone makes you say [music]? The LG Dare's compact design has metal accents, physical buttons on the front and it fits in your pocket with ease. The Samsung Instinct has a slimmer profile, a larger screen, and does its best impersonation of the iPhone design with the mirrored front. The Instinct is a looker between these two touch screens. It gets -- uh -- a 4 and the Dare gets a 3. Next round is navigation. The Instinct has an easy to use interface, the menus look great, and the touch screen is pretty responsive, and, again, it definitely takes cues from that phone from Apple. The Dare is about customization with your home screen and moving icons around any way you want, but the menus aren't that intuitive you have to make real solid contact with its touch screen and it can be frustrating. The Instinct keeps rolling with -- uh -- a 4 in this round and the Dare gets a 3. Now, after 2 rounds the Instinct leads 8 to 6. We're looking for something, anything from the Dare. Round 3 -- it's all about the features. Both of these phones are packing 3G and neither phone has WiFi, so what else are they bringing? Samsung's Instinct is rocking a full GPS solution, multi media messaging, their own visual voice mail, voice dialing, stereo Bluetooth, a microSD card slot, and Microsoft Exchange e-mail support -- that you won't find on the Dare. Now, LG's Dare has 3G, but it's the faster flavor [inaudible] Rev A that sets it apart. You'll get the GPS V Z navigator and a [inaudible], voice dialing, a microSD card slot, e-mail support, and an advanced 3.2 megapixel camera, and stereo Bluetooth. These jam-packed phones trade blows in this round -- we're handing out -- uh -- 4's to both of them, and the next round is all about multimedia. These phones are packed with media, but it's all about the execution. Now, we mentioned the LG Dare's 3.2 megapixel camera and you won't find one like it on any touch screen phone. You'll get features like face detection and a panorama mode and if you want video -- it shoots out 120 frames per second and you can play it back nice and slow. Now, music quality is solid with the V Cast service but the video quality is not, it's choppy and I'm not watching video on it, and the web browsing experience is really cramped on its smaller screen. Samsung's Instinct has a 2 megapixel camera that captures video but it's not even in the same league as the Dare. Its music interface is superior to LG's phone and it's done right. Their Sprint TV is a nice add-on but just like the Dare video quality just doesn't cut it even with the larger screen, and the web browsing isn't as cramped but it's still clunky. It's another even round with -- uh -- 4's for each phone, and going into the final round the Instinct leads 16 to 14. The round that decides it all is call quality. The LG Dare is a Verizon phone and like you'd expect call quality is great. Our team did get some crackling but felt the Dare was pretty natural sounding. Now, the Instinct has solid call quality over all with smooth and clear sound, but we did run into some background noise and uneven sound. Both of these phones are solid performers and in another battle of blows both phones get -- uh -- 4's. So, let's total the scores and in a prizefight where we went 3 rounds even, the Samsung Instinct is the victor 20 to 18 and your prizefight winner. I'm Brian Tong -- thanks for watching.
