>> Jeff Bakalar: Hey what's going on everyone? I'm Jeff Bakalar for CNET.com. Today we're looking at the Samsung HT-X710T. Now the X710T is a 2.1 DVD player and home theater in a box. It's got a very unique design unlike anything we've really seen before. The speakers resemble a sort of shrunken toll boy [assumed spelling] style and they have cool stands at the bottom of each speaker. Both the left and right speakers are covered in this sort of shiny plastic and they have metal grills on the front. The receiver's kind of interesting also. Not only can it be positioned horizontally or vertically like some game consoles, it can also be mounted on a wall. The front panel has touch sensitive buttons and the device's LED display will flip depending on how you position the receiver. The embedded DVD player's solid and it can actually upscale video up to 1080p through its HDMI output. We were happy with the X710T in terms of sound quality and the various amounts of digital media playback the unit supports via disk or its USB port. The system's compatible with JPEG photo files, MP3 and WMA audio files, along with WMV and DivX movie files. We also really like the graphic interface on board. It really makes it easy when you're navigating through digital media. The unit even supports Bluetooth streaming, but you might not be impressed with the sound quality when you're using that feature. Regardless, it's pretty cool to have. The X710T also comes with an iPod dock. Unfortunately, it doesn't support video out through that interface. Also, the system doesn't allow any sort of video in capability. Overall, we [inaudible] the X710T is a bit overpriced. We like the design and the performance of the unit, but its limited connectivity and its feature list has us wishing it was a little bit cheaper.
