>> Hi I'm John Falcone, Senior Editor at CNET.com and this is the Samsung HT-BD2T. This is the world's first theater system with built-in Blu-ray. It's a 7.1 surround system so it's got these four tallboy speakers and even two smaller speakers that go in the back for full 7.1 rear surround. In the single head unit here you have everything you need; the amplifier, the electronics and the built-in Blu-ray player. It plays Blu-ray discs as well as all your old DVD's and CD's as well. System performs exactly as advertised however there are a lot of caveats that make it kind of tough to recommend this very expensive system. First of all, like all Blu-ray players this one takes a long time to boot up so it's really frustrating to sit there and just watch the load screen spin while you're waiting to watch a movie. Secondly, there aren't a lot of inputs on this system; there are only three audio-only inputs so if you have more than three other components in your AV system you're going to run out of inputs. Thirdly, while the speakers look very sleek and sexy they're not all that big so you're not really hearing the difference that you get with those lossless Blu-ray soundtracks. But perhaps the most frustrating thing is that this Blu-ray player is only profile 1.0 compliant. That means it can't play all the added features on newer 1.1 and 2.0 discs such as picture-in-picture commentaries and online features. In a less expensive system we'd probably be able to overlook a lot of those caveats, but because the HT-BD2T is so expensive it's a little hard to recommend at this price.
