>> Hi, I'm David Katzmaier, Senior Editor at CNET.com and this is a Samsung HPT5064. This of course is the 50 inch model, Samsung's top of the line TV. It's differentiated from its less expensive Samsung brethren by the fact that it actually has a slightly better glare reducing screen so if you go right up to the screen you can actually see that it does attenuate light out a little bit. The picture quality is the best we've seen on flat panel plasmas this year. It actually has very nice deep black levels and the color levels is really among the best we've seen. there's only one TV we've seen with more accurate this year straight out of the box so that's really nice. There is a little bit of false contouring in this TV, so we could complain a tiny bit about that but otherwise, picture quality in the Samsung is extremely good. Feature-wise we mentioned all those picture adjustments. You can go in and play around with the color temperature; you can also adjust a lot of other aspects of picture quality including gamma and things like that so it really does allow you to really zero in on the picture. There's also a good selection of inputs on this set, there's three HDMI inputs, two on the back, one on the side, a PC input for computer sources as well as two component video inputs so there's plenty of connectivity. Other features include picture in picture which is skipped on a lot of HDTVs these days and in general feature set was very impressive as you would expect on a high end TV. Style-wise we really like what Samsung did with this set. It's very glossy looking around the edge here you've got the standard glossy black but it flows down into a thinner glossy area below the screen. It's thinner because the speakers are just these little slits here right along the bottom so it actually, the speakers are kind of hidden, it also includes a non-standard kind of swivel stand. You can actually swing the TV 20 degrees in either direction which again is not found on very many plasmas these days. Anyway that's a quick look at the Samsung HPT5064 Plasma and I'm David Katzmaier. ^M00:01:53 [ Music ]
