Hi, this is Jessica Dolcourt from CNET.com and this is the Samsung Galaxy Indulge. This is a new phone for MetroPCS and it is in fact the first smartphone on MetroPCS's new 4G LTE network. Now, the Samsung Craft was the first phone with that designation but it was not a smartphone. Now, this Indulge comes from the more modest branch of the Galaxy S family tree. It still has the slick black look and it runs Android 2.2 but it doesn't have the brilliant Super AMOLED screen of the other phones. It also has a lower camera resolution and it lacks a mobile hotspot. That said, the specs are still good even if they're not amazing. There's this 3.5-inch HVGA screen, nice tactile navigation buttons below the display. There's also the slideout QWERTY keyboard with pretty responsive keys. On the back, there's a 3.2-megapixel camera. This is a step down from other Galaxy phones that might have a 5-megapixel camera, for example. There's also room for 32 gigabytes of storage beneath that cover. As I said, the Indulge does run Android Froyo and it has Samsung's TouchWiz interface. All of the Google apps are inside that you would expect but there are also some for MetroPCS including a backup app, MetroPCS's own e-mail app, and a link to the MetroPCS app stores. There's also the all share app which lets you wirelessly share your media over DLNA devices. In addition, Iron Man 2, the movie, comes preloaded on this phone. The Indulge is arguably MetroPCS's best phone to date, if it weren't for one very glaring flaw--the absolutely abysmal battery life. It's rated up to only 3 hours of talk time and in my experience with this phone so far, it barely lasts a day. One day, I even had to charge it twice with some use. If that doesn't bother you though, the Indulge is a great choice for a MetroPCS phone. It costs $399 but that is without a contract. Samsung Galaxy Indulge - black (MetroPCS) Review
The good: The Samsung Indulge has a responsive slide-out QWERTY keyboard, good call quality, and the distinction of being MetroPCS' first 4G Android smartphone.
The bad: Poor battery life might make some buyers think twice, and the specs don't stand up to higher-end Galaxy S phones. It's also rather expensive.
The bottom line: With strong specs and good call quality, the Indulge is arguably MetroPCS' best phone, but the weak battery life is a disappointment.
