>> Brian: What's up Prizefight fans? I'm Brian Tong and we've got a battle between 2 cell phones from Samsung that take home messaging in their own way. In this week's Prizefight it's a face-off between Verizon's Samsung Alias 2 and AT&T's Samsung Impression. Our judges for this fight are Senior Editor Kent German, Associate Editor Nicole Lee and yours truly. Now, we'll take all 3 judge's scores and average them out to the nearest 10th each round. The final Prizefight score will be an average of all rounds using the same decimal system. We're going 5 deep, first up who's got the looks? These phones are very different from each other. The Alias 2 uses a dual flip design but it looks like a phone from the 90's. The Impression is larger in size but its' great looking touch-screen and QWERTY keyboard combo is just the right size. The Impression takes this round with a 4 point 3 and the Alias 2 gets a 3 point 3. Next round is navigation and messaging. The Alias 2 is unlike any phone with its' Morphine E Ink keyboard. You want a numeric keyboard? Well, you got it. You want some message? You got that too. But it does have a learning curve and the keys move to different places depending on which way you're using it. Now, the Impression doesn't have the same type of keyboard but it doesn't matter when its' QWERTY is this spacious. Plus its' Touch Wiz interface looks great and the screen just pops. The Impression takes another round with a 4 point 3 and the Alias 2 gets a 3 point 6. So after averaging 2 rounds the Impression leads by 8/10 of a point. The next round is features. Both phones offer comparable features with 3G, GPS and Bluetooth. Now, you won't find WiFi on either phone but the biggest difference here is the Impression's 3 mega pixel camera and a full HTML browser. The Impression takes the third round in a row with a 4 point 6 and the Alias gets a 3 point 6. Next round is multi media. The Alias 2 is crippled by its' really small screen. It has access in the VCast services for music and video but watching video with choppy quality on a screen like that, no thank you. Now the Impression's display makes all the difference here. The media player is simple and clean and the video quality exceeded our expectations. So you want to guess who takes this round? The Impression makes it 4 in a row with a 4 point 3 and the Alias 2 gets a 3 point 3. So after 4 rounds the Impression leads by 9/10 of a point. There's only 1 round left and it's call quality. Both of these phones have really good sound quality but we found that the Alias 2, which is on Verizon, to have a little harsher and more robotic sound. The Impression, which is on AT&T's network surprised us with its' real warm and natural sound. The Impression makes it a clean sweep taking the final round 4 point 6 to 4. Now, there wasn't too much drama in this slugfest because it was pretty much a butt whopping but after averaging all 5 rounds the Impression reigned supreme 4 point 4 to 3 point 6 and is your Prizefight winner.
