>> Hi. I'm Bonnie Cha, senior editor at CNET.com, and today I have your First Look at the Samsung Ace for Sprint. Now the problem with Sprint has always been you can't really take phones overseas for world roaming, but this solves your problem. Offers dual mode functionality, so that means you can CDMA network here in the United States to make calls. But it also works on GSM networks overseas. Comes with a SIM card, but it's also unlocked so you can use an international carrier SIM card if you want. Overall, the style might look familiar to you. It's like the Samsung BlackJack. It's a little bit taller. The keyboard is a little bit improved. It has kind of a pointy edge to the keys so they're easier to use. You also have the side-mounted dial for easy operation of the device. Inside it's running Windows Mobile 6 and it's EV-DO and Blutooth and all the wireless connectivity you want. Doesn't have GPS, but not bad. Good phone quality. It is available now for $199.99 with a two-year contract and good for globetrotters. I'm Bonnie Cha, and this has been the Samsung Ace. ^M00:01:02 [ Music ]

Samsung Ace SPH-i325 (Sprint) Review
The good: The Samsung Ace for Sprint offers dual-mode functionality for world-roaming, and it's unlocked for use with international SIM cards. The Windows Mobile smartphone has a compact design and features a 1.3-megapixel camera, EV-DO, and Bluetooth.
The bad: General performance can be sluggish at times. It doesn't support overseas 3G GSM networks and lacks Wi-Fi and GPS.
The bottom line: For Sprint customers looking for a world-roaming smartphone, the Samsung Ace is a nice and compact alternative to the RIM BlackBerry 8830.
