The rugged Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 Video Transcript
And there I'm Josh Goldman senior editor for CNET and this is a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC TS forward. -- the company's top rugged camera that's waterproof to about forty feet. Shocker to six point six feet and -- -- been desperate. Which are the same ratings as twenty -- TS three. It's four point six acts like a zoom lens and twelve megapixel high speed CCD sensor and two point seven inch LCD in the same two. So basically you end up with the same image quality and shooting performance as its predecessor. Which were both very good. About what is new are -- shooting options like full HD video and EBC each year MP four. Miniature effect for photos and videos. Easy panorama is Andy time -- option as well as some other minor feature tweaks. There's also a manual mode with control over shutter speed and aperture. So if none of those things are terribly important if you up creators from the TS three might want to pass. But otherwise it's still in very good rugged camera. I'm Josh Goldman and that's the Panasonic Lumix TS --

A full-featured waterproof/shockproof pocket point-and-shoot, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 is a near-perfect rugged camera for everyday use.
Rugged and sleek, this point-and-shoot is waterproof to 10 feet and can withstand a 5-foot drop. Plus, it comes in hard-core orange.
GPS and fast shooting performance make the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS3 a worthy rugged point-and-shoot even if its photos and videos aren't the sharpest.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 vs. the Olympus Tough TG-1 iHS
We throw two of the best rugged point-and-shoot cameras into the Prizefight ring to see which one survives. It's Panasonic's TS4 versus the Olympus TG-1. Let's get it on!
As long as you don't want much in the way of manual features, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3 is a very nice camera that can handle a variety of shooting situations.
This well-made advanced-shooter's camera features several unique and very efficient analog controls, but it may have trouble luring buyers away from cheaper digital SLR systems.
If you're looking for a camera that's not quite as big as a dSLR but doesn't skimp on hardware controls or features like an articulated LCD, EVF and stereo full HD video, the G3 is a great option. But performance is hit-and-miss for shooting action, so you may end up having to go with something just a bit bigger, anyway.
Though we still really like Panasonic's GF series, there are several trade-offs to take into account before you buy the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2. Its raw-format images look extremely good, but JPEG shooters looking for best-possible photo quality may get frustrated by image artifacts. And while lots of photographers will appreciate its relatively compact but functional design and zippy performance--though still not for action shooting--there's nothing special about its feature set, including underpowered video capture.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7 is a very good compact megazoom with the added benefit of a built-in GPS.
Panasonic's Lumix DMC-FH20 is a very good value for those in need of a basic point-and-shoot with a midrange zoom.
Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 (Orange) Review
The good: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 is an easy-to-use rugged point-and-shoot with some extra exposure control that you won't find on others in its class.
The bad: The TS4's photo quality and performance don't improve much from its predecessor, the TS3. It has a somewhat small, low-resolution LCD compared with competing models.
The bottom line: While it doesn't offer much for upgraders, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS4 is still a very good rugged camera.
