Roku SoundBridge Radio Review
The good: The Roku SoundBridge hi-fi clock radio wirelessly streams audio from networked PCs and the Internet as well as receiving FM and AM broadcasts. It's compatible with DRM WMA files, including purchased and subscription-downloaded tracks, and supports Rhapsody, Yahoo Music Engine, iTunes, Windows Media Connect, Musicmatch Jukebox, and Slim Server audio-server applications. You also get Mac compatibility, dual alarms (wake to AM/FM or Internet radio), a remote, an SD card slot, and all-round solid performance, not to mention great sound from the built-in speakers.
The bad: You can't stream secure AAC files purchased from the iTunes store, there are no audio inputs or built-in CD player, the menu loads sluggishly with Yahoo Music Engine, and tone adjustment is absent. Also, the SoundBridge Radio lacks an Ethernet port and doesn't support WPA wireless encryption.
The bottom line: The Roku SoundBridge Radio successfully combines a high-end AM/FM clock radio and a wireless digital audio receiver, but we'd like to see a few more extras at this price.
