>> Bonnie Cha: Hi, I am Bonnie Cha, senior editor at CNET.com and today we are taking a first look at the RIM Blackberry Pearl 8130. This is a successor to the first Pearl and it's actually a CDMA version so Verizon and Sprint users can finally have a Pearl. I have got the Verizon version right here. In short it makes a good smartphone even better. They pretty much cut the design the same, it has this nice sleek button back there. It's got the SureType keyboard which either you're gonna love or hate, I personally don't like it. Some nice addition they've made is there's a 3.5 millimeter headphone jack so you can use regular headphones now. And they've moved the micro ST slot from behind the battery tip side so it's nice and easily accessible. Inside they've made some nice additions as well. You've got built in GPS and you can finally record video with the camera. Also it supports Verizon's EVO network so you get faster 3G speeds. And there's an improved web browser as well, so that's good, Blackberry's web browser hasn't been the greatest. Call quality is good, speaker phone quality was a little bit on the weak side but overall it's a great package and it's available now for 199.99 with a 3 year contract and after rebates. I am Bonnie Cha and this has been the RIM Blackberry Pearl 8130. ^M00:01:12 [ Music ]

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 - silver (Verizon Wireless) Review
The good: The RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8130 keeps the same sleek design of its predecessor but adds built-in GPS, EV-DO support, and video-recording capabilities. The smartphone's Web browser is also improved, and it has a 2-megapixel camera. The device's messaging functions remain strong.
The bad: The SureType keyboard takes some acclimation, and call quality could be slightly better.
The bottom line: The RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8130 improves on an already-impressive smartphone with the addition of GPS, video recording, and 3G support.
