[Music] ^M00:00:03 Hi. I'm Bonnie Cha senior editor at CNet.com and today we're taking a first look at the RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120 for AT&T. It's been a while since the carrier has had a new pearl and from the design it looks pretty much the same, but inside it's got some nice stuff going on. First of all, it now has integrated Wi-Fi, so that's an alternative to surfing the Web versus edge speed so the Wi-Fi should provide you with faster web browsing. Also, they've made some enhancements to the Web browser. Ya know. BlackBerry hasn't had the best browsers in the world, but it's improved here. And you've got a nice new interface as well. You've got this L shaped icon if you want to choose that. Also, it has a 2-megapixel camera now and you can record video, which is new. Otherwise ya know, I would've liked to see maybe some 3D support or GPS. But ya know, the BlackBerry Pearl's been really popular and I think these additions will be nice. It's available now for $199.99 with a two year contract. Also offers pretty good call quality. So, if you really like the Pearl, go ahead and get it. I'm Bonnie Cha. This has been the first look at the RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120. ^M00:01:09 [Music]

BlackBerry Pearl 8120 (AT&T) Review
The good: The RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120 for AT&T brings Wi-Fi to the slim smartphone, along with an improved Web browser and a 2-megapixel camera with video recording capabilities. The handset also has integrated Bluetooth, strong e-mail capabilities, and solid multimedia features.
The bad: The BlackBerry Pearl 8120 lacks 3G support and GPS. The SureType keyboard still requires a learning curve, and there was a slight background hiss during phone calls.
The bottom line: The addition of Wi-Fi and other enhancements make the RIM BlackBerry Pearl 8120 a nice upgrade, but we couldn't help wanting a little more from the smartphone.
