>> Hi, I'm Bonnie Cha, senior editor at www.cnet.com.

>> And today we're taking a first look at the Rim Blackberry Pearl 8120 for T-Mobile. So this is pretty much the same version as 18T. Your big additions are going to be the integrated Wi-Fi and a 2-megapixel camera with video capabilities. And also you get a better web browser. T-mobile also throws in a couple of their services. You've got the Myfaves plan, which gives you unlimited calling to five contacts. And you also can use the Pearl with their HotSpot at Home service, which lets you make calls over a wireless network and saves some of your cellular minutes. I tried it and the setups really easy, but the call quality was kind of [inaudible], not so great. There's some crackling, and my friend said it sounded like I was crunching a paper bag in his ear. Regular cell phone calls were great. And overall I really didn't have too many complaints about this. It's a great upgrade to original to the original Pearl if you've got that. Or if you're looking for a new Smartphone and it's your first time using a Smartphone, the Pearl's a great choice. And you can't beat it because it's fifty dollars less then AT&T's version. So it's 149.99 with a two-year contract. And that's about it.

RIM BlackBerry Pearl - black (T-Mobile) Review

The good: The RIM BlackBerry Pearl is the first BlackBerry to offer a 1.3-megapixel camera, music and video playback, expandable memory, and a mapping application. The supersleek phone also continues to offer superior push e-mail capabilities, EDGE support, and Bluetooth....

The bad: The RIM BlackBerry Pearl's microSD slot is inconveniently located behind the battery, and call quality was subpar in our tests. The phone's camera doesn't record video, and we wish there were external controls for the music player and integrated Wi-Fi.

The bottom line: Though nothing revolutionary, the addition of multimedia features and the already solid e-mail capabilities make the RIM BlackBerry Pearl an attractive device for business users and consumers alike.
