>> Hi! I'm Bonnie Cha, Senior Editor at cnet dot com, and today we're taking a first look at the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 for Verizon Wireless. And a lot of Verizon customers have been waiting for this and you can finally have it, and I think it's worth the wait. And as usual you get all the great messaging features of the BlackBerry with access to personal and business e-mail. And you've got this full QWERTY keyboard here, so it would be easier to message than the Pearl. It's also got bluetooth and GPS, so you can use it with a location-based service like VZ Navigator to get text-based and voice-guided directions if you drive a lot to meetings and things like that. Also, you got multimedia features. There's--2-megapixel camera on the back that you can now record video. It's also got a built-in media player for music and video. The one downside is it doesn't support Verizon's V Cast streaming media services, which is a disappointment. Sprint's version does operate, so kind of getting a little bit of the better value with the Sprint version. But otherwise, this offers great call quality, and you know it's a nice compromise between the Pearl and the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition, if you don't need all those features. And it's available now for about 150 dollars with a 2-year contract and after discounts and rebates. I'm Bonnie Cha and this has been your first look at the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330. [ Music ]

RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 (Verizon Wireless) Review
Editors' rating
Very good

The good: The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 for Verizon Wireless offers integrated Bluetooth and GPS. The smartphone also delivers good call quality and strong messaging capabilities with a full QWERTY keyboard.

The bad: Unlike Sprint, Verizon doesn't offer support for its 3G streaming media services on the BlackBerry Curve 8330.

The bottom line: Though we wish the smartphone supported Verizon's VCast multimedia services, the RIM BlackBerry Curve 8330 is still an excellent smartphone that delivers on call quality and of course, e-mail.
