>> Hi. This is Martin LaMonica from CNET. I'm at the Consumer Electronics Show, where there are a lot of solar chargers going on. On thing that's pretty clear is that they're getting a lot slicker. I have a big, ugly solar panel at home. The charger's an even ugly lead acid backup battery, and I've been using that for a couple of years. And it does the job, but what we're seeing now are some much better packaging. This is from Regen. It's a solar panel that's coming out in June. But the codicil panel isn't really enough because it's got an integrated battery. It's got an indicator light here that shows how much charge you have, and kind of a neat thing is now you have these docking stations that show you how much charge you have, how much electricity you generate over the course of the week, and it's really made for home charging. You can use it off grid, when you go camping or whatever it is, but it's made for home charging. You've got this little suction cup. Stick it in your window. Come back home. You got some juice. Stick in your iPod and charge it up through the USB port. Another thing I like a lot is that the design lets you use a solar panel with other appliances like music, so you could literally stick your iPod in here, and you would have a solar-powered MP3 player. They also have a solar-powered desk lamp, and these are the sort of things that I've been saying for a long time, like, someone's got to make this a lot slicker, and it looks like Regen's well on its way. So this Martin LaMonica for CNET. Thanks for watching. ^M00:01:22 [ Music ]
