Reasons we'll miss Tom Merritt Video Transcript
Welcome to CNET Top 5, where each time we meet, we count down another hot CNET list. I'm Molly Wood. Tom Merritt has been at CNET for almost six years, and he helped build CNET TV. He and I launched Buzz Out Loud, he's been the driving force behind that show, Top 5, CNET's how-to videos, and so much more. And now, he's leaving us for ... different-colored pastures. So, here are the Top 5 reasons that we are going to miss Tom Merritt. (Brian Tong) At No. 5, Hair and Fashion tips....from day one tom has welcomed me with open arms, even looking past my body odor. I?ll really miss his smarts and brain, but more importantly what?s on his brain, his hair. He provided with so many styling tips that were invaluable to me, I thought Bumble & Bumble was a type of bee. And there?s a reason I have a blonde streak. It?s to honor Tom Meritt. (Jason) Coming in at No. 4, Obscure references. (play clip from Top 5 Movie robots: "Whether you consider the automota of Hephaestus workshop the original robot or side with the automatic flute player of the ninth century Persian Book of Ingenious Devices, you know robots play a great role in our literature." Automata of what? and 9th century whosit? Oh Tom. (Natali) Up to No. 3, Geeky How-to. Who else but Tom Merrit would go to the trouble to take apart a TV and use a soldering iron. I certainly would cut off a hand. (Molly and Jason) Sliding in at No. 2, JASON: all those bad puns ... MOLLY So, so many bad puns. So many. (Cooley) Before we get to No. 1, Here are five more reasons that were on our list but that didn't quite make the cut. All right. Let's get to our No. 1. The top reason that we're going to really miss Tom Merritt... At No. 1, it's... (Cooley) Oh crap, now I'm going to have to host the Top 5, and them?s tough shoes to fill.
