Following closely on the heels of their critically-acclaimed Knock Knock Knock EP, Make Up the Breakdown is Hot Hot Heat's debut full-length, recorded with Jack Endino at Vancouver, BC's Mushroom Studios. SPIN Magazine had this to say about Knock Knock Knock: "Some retro new wavers hang themselves on their own skinny ties. While their peers lip-sych to Cure 45s, these Canucks take subtler cues from early-'80s synth disco. Its not new wave worship, it's the sound of punk teaching itself to dance." And the new record delivers on the promise hinted at on the EP. Hot Hot Heat (along with peers like Radio 4 and The Rapture) blend angular post-punk twitch with danceable pop, effectively (and finally) persuading white dopes on punk to get on the good foot.
Milwaukee, Wisconsin's Decibully is a band's band. Featuring numerous multi-instrumentalists and having earned a strong reputation for their live performances, Decibully brandishes a wide variety of influences, mixing a rich blend of finely interspersed layers tinged with country-esque flourishes, subtle electronic twinges, and rockist undertones. Formed as a trio in Fall 2001 by William J. Seidel (vocals, guitar, percussion, Rhodes), guitarist W. Kenneth Siebert and keyboardist Nick Westfahl, the group soon added Ryan Weber (lap steel, synths, guitar, percussion), bassist Justin Klug, and drummer Jason Gnewikow to further round out their sound. Decibully spent the rest of 2001-02 practicing when time could be found, touring and self-releasing their debut album You Might Be A Winner, You May Be A Loser, But You'll Always Be A Gambler. When Gnewikow moved to New York, he was replaced on drums by Aaron Vold. At the same time, banjo player Eric Holliday joined the band. Following a successful January 2003 tour, Decibully returned to the studio to begin working on their second full-length, the tentatively-titled When We Learned How To Dance. In late May 2003 Westfahl was replaced by Nicholas Sanborn on keyboards and the band began looking for a label. Prior to Decibully, Seidel and Weber were founding members of Camden. In 1999, Camden recorded demos with Chris Rosenau, guitarist for Pele and Collections of Colonies of Bees. Based on their prior relationship and having seen Decibully live numerous times, Rosenau contacted Polyvinyl Records via a two o'clock in the morning phone message lauding the band. A few days later, an unmastered, incomplete version of the album arrived by mail. Band and label began talking and, following a return to the studio, the album was released as City of Festivals on October 14, 2003 followed by a self-booked national tour and an appearance at Polyvinyl's 2003 CMJ Showcase. With nearly a hundred shows played in support of City of Festivals, Decibully again returned to the studio to begin recording their follow-up album to the Polyvinyl debut. City of Festivals had been a mix of different songs written while the band was undergoing personnel changes. A little over half the songs had been written before the band became the solidified line-up that toured in support of City of Festivals. From the initial roughs sent to Polyvinyl, it was obvious the dividends from touring were paying off in the studio. Sing Out America! (scheduled for release March 8, 2005), Decibully's third album, is the first one to be written entirely by the band as a cohesive septet from start to finish. Although more stylistically varied than previous albums, the continuity of Sing Out America! reflects the consistency that can only be found by a band spending so much time on the road together. Sing Out America! is the most representative work the band has turned in to date, bringing their recorded output in step with their live show.
A new classic from these well-pierced pop punk giants. MxPx is a Punk/Rock band that was formed in 1992 in Bremerton, Washington. The band originally consisted of Bassist/Singer Mike Herrera, Yuri Ruley on drums, and their friend Andy Husted on guitar. This trio grew up playing garage shows and shows at their friends' houses until their popularity prospered. Andy Husted was later replaced by Tom Wisniewski on guitar to form what we all know now as MxPx. Originally the band went by the name of Magnified Plaid. The name was changed to M.P., an abbreviated form of the original, and was on posters for an early concert. Yuri, the drummer, made the posters; in his handwriting, periods become X's. The nickname caught on and the band has been going by MxPx ever since. Each letter of the name is pronounced individually. They played on Warped Tour in the 1990s. As part of a deal, MxPx was simultaneously signed to Tooth & Nail Records and A&M Records. After A&M was bought by Interscope, MxPx was dropped, leaving them unsigned. In 2004, MxPx signed to Side One Dummy Records, and released a new DVD and Acoustic EP under that label. In the past couple of years, MxPx has been accumulating fame. Their hit single "I'm Okay, You're Okay" received much radio time during the late nineties, as well as their second radio hit "Responsibility" from the album "The Ever Passing Moment". They appeared on MTV in 2002 and can still be heard on many rock radio stations. Their song "Play It Loud" is also in the huge movie production "Lords of Dogtown" and can be heard during its commercial. MxPx continues to work hard and rock stages all over the country. In October 2005, there were some rumours saying that a follow-up to Panic will be recorded in 2006 and released in early 2007.
# We started back in 1998 from the ashes of other previous hardcore/punk bands in our hometown, Jerez in South Spain. We rehearsed a lot and recorded a couple of demos. We managed to support Randy in their spanish tour of ?99 and after that Slide Chorus made us an offer to release our first album ?Proud to be nothing?. # Once the album was released we toured non - stop, and we played in every place possible in Spain, including the Islands. In summer ?00 we toured europe for the first time with our friends PPM. then, back to spain we managed to play big shows with bands like No Fun at All or Undeclinable. # In early 2001, we toured Europe again in the well known ?Stronger than Metal tour?, which led us to meet great bands on the road as the Donots, Against time or 5 days off. Later that year, we toured Spain with Adhesive and right after we flied to the Uk to rock along 10 days with Twofold. Then we played at the Deconstruction Tour in Portugal. # In June ?01, New Horizon Records released ?Proud to be nothing? in north america. In summer ?01 the band their basement to create ?The True Charm of Bourgeoisie?. We signed to Wild Punk Records to release the album in Spain. In september ?01 we went to ?Pig Studios? in Granda, Spain (same as for ?Proud to be Nothing?) and we repeated with Javi PPM as the producer. # In march ?02 we toured Canada. We did 10 shows in the states of Quebec and Ontario with a successful result. Then, in october ?02 we did a 21 dates european tour along 9 different european countries to present the latest album. It was the best tour ever for us! # In 2003 we signed to BCore Disc, and we worked hard to finally record "Dialectics" in September '03. The album was produced by Paco Loco (Australian Blonde, Steve Wynn...) at Odds Studios in El Puerto, very near our hometown Jerez. # "Dialectics" is no doubt the finest workpiece we've ever done, a very own soundfield where we feel really confortable. As always our touring plans this time are definitively serious, so watch out there!

'Sound Of Silver' is the second album from New York's king of cool, James Murphy and his LCD Soundsystem. A consummate punk-funk workout that expands on the sound of their eponymous debut without losing any of that record's inherent coolness, this is dance music for people to think to, and will appeal to fans of The Rapture and Radio 4. MUNK are Italian Mathias Modica and German partner Jonas Imbery. They release their own records and also the music of friends like HEADMAN, WHOMADEWHO and TOMBOY on their own little label GOMMA - the label that has achieved a quite good fame for releasing this new sound which mixes the aesthetics of 70ies Disco and Krautrock with modern Electronics and House. In the past Gomma has released the debut albums of avant-garde pop artists like MOCKY, HEADMAN, New York sculpturist THE RAMMELLZEE and NICK MACCARTHY (of Franz Ferdinand) with his former band KAMERAKINO. In early February the new label compilation was released. GOMMAGANG 3. It includes recent tracks from the above mentioned artists and also new remixes and guest appearances of The Rapture, DJ Chloe, Midnight Mike, Dirt Crew. It was mixed by the MUNK guys and shows the sound of the Gomma label of the past two years and also the DJ style of MUNK. MUNK have released their critically acclaimed APERITIVO debut album in 2004. The single "Kick Out The Chairs!" still gets played in clubs around the world. The album is one of the first records that preceded the current "Garagedisco" and "Balearic" trend. Including guest vocalists such as their friend JAMES MURPHY of LCD SOUNDSYSTEM/DFA RECORDS, French DJ CHLOE, MIDNIGHT MIKE from London and BOBBY CONN ? the album still sounds fresher than many similar recordings of now. Since "Aperitivo", the guys have been mostly djing around the world. Their very own hot mix of Minimal house and Leftfield Disco gets appreciated more in more and so they are playing a lot of clubs around the world. From places like The Pulp in Paris, Culture Club in Belgium and Berlin clubs like WMF or FUN to fancy parties like the one of Colette shop in Paris and festivals like Sonar and Melt.
One of the cornerstone punk bands of the '90s, Rancid's unabashedly classicist sound drew heavily from the Clash's early records, echoing their left-leaning politics and fascination with ska, while adding a dash of essential hardcore crunch. Critics praise their political commitment, surging energy, and undeniable way with a hook and the band's strengths have made them one of the most revered punk bands ever. Their third album, 1995's ...And Out Come the Wolves, made them a platinum-selling sensation and an inescapable presence on MTV and modern rock radio. While they never translated that success into an enormous blockbuster record, that wasn't necessarily their ambition, choosing to stay with the independent punk label Epitaph and the creative freedom it allowed them. That decision helped them retain a large, devoted core audience as revivalist punk-pop began to slip off the mainstream's musical radar. Rancid was formed in 1991 by San Francisco Bay Area punk scenesters Tim Armstrong (guitar/vocals) and Matt Freeman (bass). Lifelong friends and longtime punk fans, the two had grown up together in the small, working-class town of Albany, near Berkeley; they'd also played together in the legendary ska-punk band Operation Ivy.
