Video description: It only takes a few seconds of Enemies Like This, the title track to Radio 4?s new album, to realize that the Brooklyn-based band has returned with all cylinders fired up and with a rejuvenated sense of purpose. Radio 4 have never been ones to shy away from making a loud noise or issuing a firm statement, but on Enemies Like This, they?ve both streamlined and stretched their sound, they?ve cut the fat, trimmed the filler, and focused on the meat that makes the music, not the spices that can bury it. Enemies Like This is the album long awaited by all those who know that, up to now, Radio 4?s strongest impression has been made from the stage. To this end, Radio 4 stayed out of big studios for Enemies Like This. They recorded the backing tracks in December 2005 in an industrial section of Williamsburg (Headgear Studios), and added overdubs in the basement of a converted factory in Park Slope (the sarcastically named Seaside Lounge). For production, they brought over from London Jagz Kooner, a founding member of The Aloof and Sabres of Paradise known also for his radical mixes for Primal Scream, Kasabian, Soulwax and others. Radio 4 had struck up a friendship with Kooner on their travels, noting his innate understanding of how rock music can groove without getting all cerebral or convoluted about it. Enemies Like This came in ten songs and 43 minutes long like albums used to be back when they were spread over two sides of vinyl and there was no space to bury your mistakes. As much as these ten songs are devoid of filler, they?re also thrillingly diverse. Try and spot the influences ? Anthony Roman is about to openly cop to some of them but dont presume to peg this band. Radio 4 are proud of the scene from which they emerged, but with Enemies Like This, they?ve become very much their own entity.

"Barcelona Burnout" can currently be seen on digital and satellite TV channel Men and Motors. A special showing of "Barcelona Burnout" with The Southern Electrics Unplugged performing music from the film is taking place at the Greenwich Picturehouse. TSE are recording "Electric Love" at the legendary Battery Studios (Robbie Williams, Joe Strummer, Radiohead) with producer Jaimie Carter (credits include Craig David, The Datsuns, AC/DC, Good Charlotte. A&R and producer for Rondor), the first single from The Southern Electrics' second album. The single is receiving its debut UK airing on Princess Productions' Jimmy Carr's "The Friday Night Project" on C4.

The track has already received extensive radio airplay, including BBC Radio, RTE2 FM (Ireland), Today FM (Ireland), Totalrock and XFM. In April they also recorded a live BBC Television Session. To accompany the single, a Video Shoot for "Electric Superhighway" took place at Pinewood Studios, directed by Vincent Lewis from Ignite Productions. Watch for The Southern Electrics' new single "Save You" (MUK015). The debut album "Electric Superhighway (MUK008)" is out now on Mi5 Recordings UK through Universal distribution.

The Early Years: "So Far Gone"

The Early Years David Malkinson, Roger Mackin and Phil Raines (guitar, guitar and drums) ? only formed in late-2004 and not along after, their demo tape received the on-air backing of Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq on Radio One and John Kennedy on XFM (they were even invited in to record sessions for both stations), Beggars Banquet were alerted to their talent. Less than a year on and their debut album is ready to go. Furthermore, it?s a delight. Both live and on record, the results are stunning; never swaying from their ambition to make inventive, original and accessible music. You might have already been converted to their ?noisy majesty? It was recorded by a band unafraid to embrace the far poles of arts and entertainment. BSP have toured with and been praised by David Bowie, The Flaming Lips, Lou Reed, Radiohead and Jarvis Cocker. But they?ve also been invited to play in celebration of the life and times of Sir John Betjeman, the late UK Poet Laureate, born in 1906. And they?ve played shows with The Copper Family, a clan of Sussex folk singers who?ve been going for two hundred years.
