>> You may have bought you D80 DSLR from Nikon because of the fabulous color rendition but did you know that it's always based on white. I'm Brian Cooley with a quick tip on setting white balance on the D80 and similar digital SLR's. First of all turn the camera on and go to the WB button here on the back. That stands for white balance. Hold that down, put your thumb on the subcommand wheel, that's behind the grip. And roll that back and forth. You'll go from automatic which is the default to incandenscent light, there's fluorescent, there's full sun, I have flash, that would be filtered sun through clouds, there's shade light, there's K, that's temperature Kelvin if you know what temperature your lights are if you have a studio and then finally Pre. This one's interesting. Hold the white balance button down again under the Pre setting you'll start to flash. Aim the camera at a white or neutral gray card, you can get those at photo supply shops, and press the shutter. It'll do an instantaneous sampling of the white source and then set all the colors against it. That way you get perfect color. It could save you a lot of time fiddling around later in Photoshop to get rid of a bluish, greenish or yellowish cast to your photos. So learn about white balance. It's the Insider's Secret to great color. I'm Brian Cooley. Hope you've enjoyed this quick tip on the D80 and similar digital SLR's. ^M00:01:23 [ Music ]
