>> You know the look. All flat and washed out and people look terrible when you look that way. I'm Brian Cooley with a Quick Tip on how to take great looking, natural pictures of people with the Canon PowerShot 8550, and similar digital cameras. It all comes down to turning off the flash, which is counter intuitive, but let me show you how to do it and why it gives such great results. Turn your camera on and then press on the right side on the right side of your navigation wheel, that little lightning bolt there means flash. As you press that you'll go through different flash modes, you may see two or three, but you want that one that has the line through the flash. Then let go, it takes its place at the top of the icon row. Now take your picture normally, except that the flash won't go off, so you've got to hold your camera very still or buy one of those little portable tripods. The bottom line is there's no ugly, cold flash washing out people's faces and making them look inhuman. It's a great way to take pictures of people whether it's a portrait or a candid shot at a party or what have you. By the way, to turn the flash back on is easy, just press that side of the nav wheel some more until you get one of the flash enabled icons. Now go take some great pictures of your family and friends with your Canon PowerShot 8550. ^M00:01:15 [ Music ]
