Quick Tips: Shoot without flash on your SD600 Video Transcript

>> You know the look. Ooh, one of those pictures. All over flashed and washed out. But if you have a Canon SD series like this SD 600 there's an easy way to get around that nasty washed out, over flashed look. I'm Brian Cooley and this quick tip is going to show you how to avoid that. First turn the camera on and do so in the record mode or picture taking mode. Then to get the flash turned off just press on the right side of the little navigation jog wheel right here and keep pressing it as you toggle through all the possible flash modes. You'll have auto, you'll have a red eye deduction mode, the one you're looking for is called off. Leave it right there, let go, and that sets flash to off. Now just take your picture normally but there'll be no flash, and you've got to hold the camera really still because the shutter speed is going to be slower to make up for the lack of light from the flash. But you can do it. And when you go to take the picture, you might see a little flashing red icon in the lower left. That means camera shake is possible. Just hold still. Brace your elbows on a table or invest in one of these little portable gorilla pods which are great as either a tabletop tripod or they can wrap around and grip something and make flashless shooting very easy to do. I think you'll love the results. Humans look human again, environments look warm and inviting. So get out there and take some great looking photos of people without that washed out flash look.
