>> Your Nikon digital SLR is a megapixel monster. There's tons of resolution in here, but you don't need it for every shot. I'm Brian Cooley with a Quick Tip on how to change compression and image size on the DAE and similar Nikon digital cameras. Let's get started. First of all, turn the camera on and then look for the qual or quality button back here, lower left of the screen. Now as you're holding that down, move the command wheel. That's the one on the front of the grip under your index finger, typically. As you move that guy around, you're going to find the letters change right there in the window, small, medium, large, etcetera. That's the size of the image, height time's width. Look at the manual. It will tell you exactly what the numbers are. But, you know, even the small one is a pretty big image and you can save a lot of space on your memory card by selecting that size. By the way, notice it will automatically recalculate how many shots fit on your card right there in the window. Now move the subcommand wheel under your right thumb. That one changes the compression level, various levels, of JPEG compression and other formats. You often don't need the ultimate resolution, the ultimate fineness for a typical photograph, so save yourself some card space by maybe middling it a little bit. Again, check the manual for what is recommended for various photographic applications, but I think you're going to find some good results by managing image size and resolution on your D80 and similar Nikon digital SLR?s. ^M00:01:28 [ Music ]
