Quick Tips: Long shutter time on your SD600 Video Transcript

>> You know, some of the most interesting, creative photographs are nighttime time exposures. But a lot of folks think you can't take them with fairly simple point and shoot cameras like this Canon SD600. But in this Quick Tip, I'm going to show you how the SD series cameras can, indeed, take very good time exposures with long shutter times. Now to get to the long shutter time, you've got to make a couple of settings. First of all, turn your camera on in the record mode, not picture taking mode. Now press the menu button and then drop down a few selections until you see this one, long shutter. Turn that mode on by clicking over to it. Now hit menu to back out of that. Next up, hit the functions set button right here in the middle of the little scrolly wheel. Drop down one position to where it says plus minus zero. In that scale, press menu and then you see you have a scale of seconds. Work the wheel left and right to change the number of seconds for how long the camera will take an exposure, how long the shutter will stay open. Now you experiment because there's no easy rule on how many seconds you should leave your camera open, but try them all. It's visual, after all. You're not going to waste any film.
