>> Hi, I'm Tom Merritt from CNET.com with a quick tip on how to hook your IPhone up to your car stereo without buying anything new. We're going to assume, you've already got your iPod hooked up to your car stereo somehow, maybe it's a cassette adaptor or you've got an auxiliary jack with a plug, any of those ways will work to play your iPod, but they won't work for the IPhone. Why? Because of this stupid recessed plug-in here. See, none of these jacks will actually fit inside there. I don't know why Apple did that but the upshot is, I can play music, I hear it coming out of the speakers here, but when I plug it into the car, I don't hear it coming out of the car speakers. So, that's not going to work. I've got a way around that though. Every IPhone comes with a dock, and on the back of the dock is a line out port. I'm going to start this playing so you can see it happen in action. I take the IPhone, put it in the dock, take my car stereo jack, plug it into the line out port, and I've got music coming out of my car stereo speakers, nice and loud. It's a little bit clunky when it sits in your car, but it works. That's it for this quick tip, I'm Tom Merritt for CNET.com. ^M00:01:15 [ Music ]
