Quick Tips: How to make programs launch at Startup Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Molly Wood from CNET.com with a Quick Tip on how to make a program launch on Startup. In Vista or XP, click on My Computer or press Windows E, my favorite new shortcut, to bring up an Explorer Window. Now double-click the main drive, usually the C drive. Open Documents and Settings, then open All Users. Now open the Start Menu folder and open Programs, and then choose Startup. This is where your system stores all the applications that open on startup. If you want to add a new one, just click Start > All Programs, choose the app you want and drag it into the Startup folder. This creates a shortcut to the program. Now, just restart, and you should see that program launch the next time you start up. If you're running OS X, you can right-click or click and hold the program in the Dock and then choose "Open at Login." Or, you can go to System Preferences and Accounts, and manage the list of programs that load when you start up. Now, don't get too crazy putting programs IN Startup, otherwise it'll take forever and a day to, you know, start up. And we've got a nice collection of Quick Tips and Insider Secrets on how to speed UP booting and STOP startup processes ... you'll find those all at CNET TV. I'm Molly Wood for CNET.com, and as always, you're welcome.
