>> The D80 from Nikon and the similar cameras they make are incredible digital SLR's but you know it's almost too easy to leave them in automatic mode and never really get your hands dirty. We're going to change that in this quick tip. I'm Brian Cooley. First of all turn your D80 or similar camera on. Then get over here on the main mode wheel and flip it around to M, that's for manual. Ooh scary. Not really. Get your finger on this wheel on the back of the grip, that's called the subcommand wheel. Start to roll that back and forth and you'll see the seconds of the exposure time changing from a high of one four thousandth all the way down to whole seconds, in fact as many as thirty whole seconds can be set in this menu. And if you want to go longer than that, that's a long time, go to the bulb mode. That means it will stay open as long as you press down the shutter button or press on a remote control. Now these are great modes to get very dim natural light photographs like a city at night to soak up all that light and get this almost surreal look. Some of your favorite photos were shot this way. So get to know the manual mode especially for long exposures on your D80 or similar Nikon DSLR. [ Music ]
