>> Hi there, I'm Veronica Belmont, associate editor for CNet.com. On this edition of Quick Tips, I'm going to show you how to auto accept attachments from specific contacts in the chat program ICQ. Let's go to the options menu and click on message and files under customization on the left. That will open up the panel with the heading of files near the bottom. And the first choice lets you auto accept files from all of your contacts. But next to that is a cent per contact option and clicking on that brings up a window where you can move your contacts manually from the don't auto accept columns to the auto accept column. When you're done doing that, hit okay. When an attachment arrives, a message will pop up saying that a file has been received and offers a choice of opening, browsing, or saving as. I think it's important to be careful with this feature, otherwise somebody who knew you don't know very well could easily affect your system with virus or other malware. Thanks for watching quick tips. For more, head over to CNet TV.com. I'm Veronica Belmont, see you next time. ^M00:01:01 [ Music ]

Download.com guide to Registry Mechanic
Although not feature rich, this simple utility checks your registry for errors that can slow down and even crash your computer. Registry Mechanic finds a wide range of defects, including references to already uninstalled programs, missing help files, broken shortcuts, virtual devices, start-up programs, fonts, and configuration files. It also can automatically repair invalid entries at Windows start-up. If removing an entry causes problems with your system, you can restore the registry from backups. Users have a choice of Quick Scan or a more comprehensive Deep Scan, as well as a custom scan option. The aesthetically appealing interface is uncomplicated and easy to use, but Registry Mechanic is a one-trick pony. It does a great job on registry maintenance, but we would like to see other features to help keep computers running smoothly. Any computer user will find Registry Mechanic easy to run and a good way of keeping Windows in tip-top shape.
