Hi, I'm Scott Stein, senior editor at CNET.com, and this Pogoplug Video. Now, after Apple's iCloud announcement and everything we've been hearing about the cloud, you may wanna figure out some way that you can get your content stored and shared online with others. Well Pogoplug takes a different approach. This is a device, a little hardware setup here that you set on your desk and plug in through your Ethernet and you connect your own USB hard drives or thumb drives into this device and it instantly sets them up to share over the internet with other people. So we reviewed the Pogoplug before and Pogoplug products and the idea is that this device plugs in to your home network. You can take your USB, thumb drives, or your hard drives. Plug them in to 4 USB ports, stud it along the back or the front and you can share that with yourself or with others, bet it your smartphones, web browser, on your PS3, Xbox 360 even via DLNA or your iPhone Or your Mac or your iPad. There's a variety of options and that's what makes the Pogoplug so versatile and really nice for data. It even works for music too, but we found in previous versions when you work with video, it got a little bit choppy and a little bit weird. The Pogoplug video picks up for that left off. It cost $200 and the promise is that this can now deliver video faster and by delivering we mean streaming online so that you could be able to do I say load your hard drive, upload videos, home movies, or hopefully content that you got legally and share with other devices. We bring up that because that's the questions. What are you gonna be using this for? If you purchase video content saved via iTunes or those types of sources that's via DRAM that's protected and something like the Pogoplug is not gonna help with that. You have to run an official channel. However, if you have videos that you've shot, say home movies or great one or videos that don't have protected rights on them that you've gotten, you can share those, but the issue is going to be that it's not a perfect solution. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation can wirelessly pick up this device and see it and discover it as a media drive, which is nice, but the least becomes a little bit wacky and some videos play fantastically, others the format isn't recognized. And on the iPhone and IOS devices, there is an app that you can download, a Pogoplug app that will access all of your formatted content, but it music, photos, Movies, and documents and allow them to review it as well. The best use of sharing is probably the web service Pogoplug is a really nice web portal and they also even have a software download that allows the drive to pop up on your computer just like a regular network hard drive and you can drag and drop content into it. This centerpiece product is meant for you and your own hard drives that you bring to the table. There is not storage in here. This is just a hub and that might be confusing for some people and might affect the equation, but if you got a lot of USB hard drives like this setting around with a lot of content and you don't wanna upload them and you wanna share them right now, look into the Pogoplug video, but if you're looking for something that suddenly serve video in a fantastic cloud stream solution, given it you everywhere without any problems, that's not this quite yet, but it might worth taking a look for yourself and deciding from your own.
